Storage Policy
This policy describes how warehouse storage is billed for freight held at our service-center warehouses.
Free Storage Period
We provide 15 calendar days of free storage beginning on the date your freight is received at our warehouse. No storage charges accrue during this period.
When Storage Charges Begin
Storage charges begin on day 16 following receipt. Freight that is shipped out before day 16 is not invoiced for storage.
Billing Cycle
- The first storage invoice is issued after your freight has been in our warehouse for more than 15 days.
- While the freight remains in our warehouse, subsequent storage invoices are issued every 30 days from the last invoice date.
How Charges Are Calculated
Storage is billed by commodity. For each commodity in your shipment we calculate two amounts:
- Per-unit storage charge — the published storage rate for that commodity, multiplied by the quantity in storage.
- Minimum storage charge — a per-commodity minimum that applies regardless of quantity.
You are billed the greater of the two.
Quantity is determined by commodity:
- Broadloom carpet — billed on actual quantity received (i.e per square yard).
- All other commodities — billed per line item (i.e. per pallet).
Where This Policy Applies
Storage billing applies only at our service-center warehouses.
Rates
Storage rates and minimum charges vary by commodity, warehouse region, and account. Contact your account representative for the rates that apply to your shipments.
